The Session is the governing body of a local church. It consists of the Pastor of the church along with the Elders of the church.

In Presbyterian churches the function of overseeing the church is conducted by Elders.  In a regular congregation the Elders are elected by the people of the church.  In a mission church, like Big Bear Valley OPC, the Elders are appointed by the Presbytery.

The Presbytery of Southern California appointed the Reverend Alan Pontier to be the Pastor of Big Bear Valley OPC.  It also appointed Elder David Winslow and Elder David Kennard to be the Session of the congregation.
